Welcome to Wokingham Print E-mail

Once a busy market town in Windsor Forest, the historic town of Wokingham is now a lively centre for business and light industry. It owes its relative prosperity to its strategic position in the prosperous Thames Valley and easy access to road, rail and air services.

The Market Place and its Victorian Town Hall are at the heart of the town, which is an attractive mix of old houses and inns with modern shops, businesses and offices. Wokingham offers a pleasant living and working environment, which is well served with shops, churches, schools, community, health and leisure services.

Wokingham Town Council provides a range of services for local residents, including:

  • Entertainment in the Market Place on Saturdays in summer - click here
  • A General Market every Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday
  • A Farmers’ Market on the first Thursday of every month
  • Parks, Open Spaces, Playing Fields and Playgrounds
  • Allotments
  • Rooms and Halls for Hire
  • A venue for Civil Ceremonies
  • An Information Centre

"There is a fantastic selection of leaflets and guides on such a wide range of activities and events and all brilliantly displayed. The staff were also helpful and a pleasure to deal with. I cannot recall a better information centre I have visited anywhere on my travels!!"
