Wokingham in Bloom 2018

The town is entering the regional Thames and Chiltern in Bloom competition after taking a break in 2017. With the redevelopment of the town centre we hope to showcase the new Market Place as well as all the other horticultural achievements in Wokingham.

The competition is between villages, towns and cities with comparable populations and is judged in three main categories:

  • horticultural achievement
  • environmental responsibility
  • community participation

In previous years (2013, 2014, 2015, 2016) Wokingham has achieved a Silver Gilt award and in 2016 with a score of 84%, judges Kate Dagnall and Paul Almond commented "Wokingham in Bloom is a true catalyst bringing the community together, instilling pride of place and making Wokingham a better place, keep up the good work as Gold is not far away".

A whole array of schools, businesses and local organisations are taking part including Wokingham Horticultural Association, Holt Copse Conservation Volunteers, the Town and Borough Councils, Rose Street Gardeners, All Saints Church, Wokingham Litter Heroes, Cockpit Community Garden and many more.

Please don’t be shy in getting involved with Wokingham in Bloom, you don't need any previous experience. If you are interested please contact the Market and Bloom Officer.
