Bikes, e-bikes and walking are all great ways to increase activity, reduce our reliance on cars and reduce CO2 emissions. You can explore the benefits of active travel with local community group WATCH and join in the Urban Limits bike challenge on the day. The challenge is a great way to see how much CO2 you can save by cycling for just 60 seconds compared to using a car over the same distance.

Cllr. Peter Dennis, Vice Chair Amenities Committee Wokingham Town Council: “E-bikes are a brilliant way to get around, not just for leisure but for commuting and shopping. The power assist takes the effort out of cycling whilst still retaining the freedom cycling offers you. Since purchasing one, I’ve found there’s no need to use the car for council meetings. The event is the ideal opportunity to investigate and test-ride e-bikes and explore the benefits of leaving the car at home for some or even most of your journeys.”

Wokingham My Journey Team: “My Journey team are pleased to be working in partnership with Wokingham Town Council to deliver an E-bike event for our residents, particularly useful for older adults or those with disabilities who need a little help up the hills!  Using an e-bike does not mean being lazy as you can get all the health benefits from pedalling normally for much of the journey and, with better weather on its way, why not get in the habit of ditching the car for short journeys and improving air quality.  In the last year, bike shops have been selling out of e-bikes for all ages, even more quickly than children’s bikes so join the new revolution!”
