Wokingham and REME

Collection containing artifacts from the Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers on show in the Town Hall or from our long association with the Corps.

REME were awarded the status of Freemen of the Town in 1978. Many military units, generally from the same area of the Town or City conferring the honour, have been awarded Freemen of the Town in recognition of their dedicated service. Thereby often giving the right specifically to parade through the town "with drums beating and flags flying".

REME have paraded through Wokingham on numerous occasions the most recent being in 2015 before their move to Lyneham, Wiltshire.
