A group photograph of the Officers and NCO's of the 2/5th Bn The Buffs with a draft of 200 NC's and men selected for service in France with 24 London Regt. (The Queens) August 31st 1916.

Photograph number 1061 in a series taken by Panoras (sp) of 60 Doughty Street WC1.

The Buffs (Royal East Kent Regiment) was an infantry regiment of the British Army. With a history dating back to 1572 during WW1 10 additional battalions were raised including this one, 2/5th.

240937 Pte F. Steadman served in the Buffs and his family, based in Wokingham, now own his memorabilia.
