Wokingham Town Council maintains a number of parks and open spaces for the benefit of the community. The parks are inspected regularly, and remedial works are scheduled as required to remove any diseased or unsafe trees and plant replacements.

Howard Palmer Gardens
This is a small pretty park (0.8 acres) located behind the Cockpit Path car park in the centre of the town. Well-used in summer lunch hours by those living and working in the town centre, the park was landscaped in 2014 with improved access and new seating areas. It features a sundial designed by the pupils of Emmbrook School.
Joel Park & Holt Copse
Located between Holt Lane & Jubilee Avenue, part of this 23 acre site was designated a Local Nature Reserve (LNR) in June 2003. The Council works in close co-operation with The Holt Copse Conservation Volunteers and the Borough Council’s Countryside Service. Holt Copse itself is an area of ancient semi-natural woodland and is part of the larger woodland of Joel Park. The site contains an area of wet grassland with abundant Cuckoo Flower and Bluebells in spring and a large noctule bat roost. There is a children’s playground and areas of grassland make it suitable for family picnicking and walks.
King George V Playing Field
Located off Goodchild Road and abutting St Crispin’s playing field, this 5 acre park also has a football pitch for hire. There is a children’s playground divided into older and young children’s play areas.
Langborough Recreation Ground
Bounded by Gipsy Lane and Fairview Road this 5 acre ground is part registered as a village green. It is surrounded by Tilia Cordata (small leaf Lime trees), and has an area of play equipment for young children. The football pitch may be hired by local clubs.
Leslie Sears Playing Field
Located off Crail Close and Reeves Way, the playing field has 7 acres of grassland, incorporating a younger children’s play area which includes new play equipment – butterfly spring see saw, single and double arch swings and a ‘nursery rhymes’ multi-play system. A ‘Countryside for All’ gate has been provided for easier access.
Redlands Farm Park
Tucked away down Evendons Lane, this peaceful 11 acre park is used mainly by dog walkers. There are beautiful views from the top of the park over Finchampstead. A ‘Countryside for All’ gate has been installed for easier access. There are two magnificent specimen Oak trees in the field.
Viking Field
The field is adjacent to Leslie Sears, and is a large open space with a natural grass meadow. This area was bequeathed to the District Council in 1997 by Mrs Henagulph and is managed by the Town Council.
